Ok lets see, its to do with America and Toyota, hmmmmmmm
maybe a few less of them both could'nt hurt could it :wasntme:
Maybe a few less Americans at the Battle of the Coral Sea during the Second World War and we Australians would be now speaking Japanese and all driving Toyotas.
Put your brain into gear before typing **** about another race, very bad taste, Regards Frank.
I had the accelerator jam on full in a XF Falcon and it was bloody scary. It happened when i was setting off rather than already travelling at speed. A motor screaming at redline is very disconcerting especially when it is unexpected. I kicked at the pedal to no effect and was pushing the brake pedal as hard as i could but i was still moving, there was clouds of tire smoke. I eventually knocked it out of Drive and turned the ignition off. Even though the ignition was off the motor did not cleanly turn off, it fought it and the exhaust pipe blew up *BANG*. In my case the sequence of events was; panic/incomprehension of what was happening, attempts to resolve the stuck accelerator, getting the car out of Drive and switching the ignition off. All up it took me about 10 seconds to stop moving if i recall correctly and that was from standstill. Travelling at speed would multiply the how dangerous this is and how long it would take appropriate action since there is a dramatic increase in the number of variables involved; brakes are even less effective, you have to account for what the consequences of turning motor off will be (loss of power assisted steering and brakes),the need to avoid other cars or objects and the sheer panic of being in a seemingly uncontrollable accelerating vehicle.
Sounds bad Akula.
I am a bit surprised that engines can be more powerful than brakes. I always assumed it would be the other way around.
Pat, probably not, but if I was an American reading that on this Forum (and there are some) I would be offended, I don't see a place here for bagging other nationalities or religion, all it does is create bad feelings, there a probably Forums around that discuss(argue) Politics and Religion.
I love this Forum because we can all discuss topics related to our Land Rovers and what we do with them, camping, touring, etc.
I know MarknDeb were being tongue in cheek, but if it offends and it does then it should be more thoughtfully written, do you see where I'm coming from Pat. There are Americans dying in overseas conflicts, not their fault, it is their Governments fault, I don't mind cynicism directed at a (any) Government, just NOT individuals, Regards Frank.
