Get any decent fabrication shop to roll up your requirement from plate and weld the seam.
I had thought of that, but that is one extra weld I don't have to leak test... And at the prices they charge over here, it would probably cost more.
After doing a run around all the local scrap metal dealers with no luck, I bit the bullet and ordered a full length from onesteel. Anyone need 5m of 203mm Al tube???
You could build a special BLING rollbar for the old girl with that:p:p:p:p
Andrew
Ben, looks like you are going to make some sort of pressure vessel, what about a old alloy Oxy bottle (smaller ones), or even an old fire extinguisher, the scrap yards should have some, Regards Frank.
Do they still make 'whoopee' in WA?
cheers, DL
Well as luck would have it, I work for Capral. We have a manufacturing site in Canningvale where I keep the machines running, however our 7" 1690 tonne press doesn't produce the material you want.
There are bigger presses over east. I'll have a look on our ally rack tomorrow, as I think we grabbed some large section anodized hollow tube last time we saw it in the factory.
Capral are the only company who mass produces Extrusions in Oz, and as everything else goes, we have been loosing to the Chinese competition. However, just this week the Gov't has just brought in a 16% tax on imported extrusions, so we are going to be very competitive with the Chinese opposition again. Before this, the only benefit for buying Australian Ally was a 2 week turn around on metal as apposed to the Chinese 6-8 Weeks.
