    Does anyone still manufacture anything in (Western) Australia!!!

    I am trying to buy some large diameter, heavy wall aluminium tube for a project at work. So far no joy. Capral can supply me with some ex Victoria if I wait 2 weeks.

    For a state/country which supplies most of the world's aluminium, you would think that aluminium products would be readily available????

    I don't suppose anyone has any 200mm OD +/-5mm, Al tube with 3+ mm wall lying around do they???

    Try the alli fabricators, I found the same problem when living in WA, FNQ and NWQ; also to a lesser degree in Brisbane. Companies save money and capital by not carrying stock, they order it as required then charge you the freight as a special order.

    I will check a couple of Alloy suppliers at the Bay on Sat. morning, they usually have some extensive scrap bins.
    What length are you after?

    Of course not we only dig it out the ground and send it overseas. Apart from refining of some ore most is sent OS to be value added.

    So far I have tried:
    Capral - 2 weeks wait and I have to buy 4.8m
    Austral Wright Metals - no joy
    Robert Cameron - solid 200mm bar but no tube
    A couple of others whose name escapes me - no joy
    Finally got onto OneSteel - have some In stock!!! (unbelievable), but I have to buy 6m (though for less than Capral wanted for 4.8m).
