    amazing customer service

gee how times change. Two examples here.

    1. Banks. not long ago you couldnt get them to give a damn that you were breathing in their branch, if there was a branch in your area. Now (talking commonwealth bank here) you go into the local branch which I think has been opened in the last couple of yrs, and the staff sort of wait on you walking in, have a staff member near the people lining up, talk overly nice to you, way way way over the top nice, sort of freaky looking at you like a stalker nice and it makes doing business awkward. These people need to find a balance, I dont want them to ignore me like the old days, and I like good service, but just sort of professional, human touch nice efficient service. Is this hard to achieve?

    2. Super cheap auto. The web site is comprehensive so I called a shop to ask about a $20 part in stock. She said she would find it for me, said there was two on the system, took my name and number, said she would go out the back, pack it up and call me so I know its there when I make the trip. PERFECT service, willing, nice and really helpful for a low price item.

Local Supercheap are a long way from that. Even been referred to their local opposition instead of them ordering something in. Now only go in when they have sale items.

thats a fair point, it really just shows there is no across the board service from large companies, its individuals which make the difference, perhaps the bank has tried to force all workers (against their will) to be like this person who helped me.
