Sorry but that is an oxymoron IMHO.

If you want a good quality filter buy donaldson, fleetgard, or mann filter. AFAIK all of those companies manufacture to OEM quality or better.

Yeah!! I agree. I have discovered in the last 24 hours that Ryco filters are now made in China.

Just had a look at their website. Despite a somewhat detailed history of the company, it avoids any mention of where filters have been made either now or in the past. Worth noting though that the company started out as an importer in the 1930s.

So Ryco filters are (by the sound of it), no longer made by Ryco/GUD - instead they are rebranded filters from another company.

I find it interesting that MANN+HUMMEL (Mann Filter) still manufactures many of its filters in Germany (they also have plants in Brazil and India AFAIK). I am sure their costs would be much higher than Ryco's were in Australia, as many of the jobs required in filter manufacture must be done by hand. Donaldson and Fleetgard (Cummins Filtration) still have US plants as well.

I've just changed the oil in the ute to Castrol edge 25W 50 in the ute after many years of running BP corse plus, seems to be a bit better at keeping the rattly cleveland tappets quiet. The Motorcraft oil filter I bought was made in Thailand.

Yeah, I have looked around and I can't confirm your statement of Ryco moving offshore about 25 years ago. Can you supply a link for this, thanks for that, much appreciated.
