well guess its not a good idea to go putting roll cages in then:p...and before anyone says they mount to the chassi some do contact the body work when your doing internal and external ones:D

I think DB has made a very valid arguement, dont see her being a smartass.

its all good fella's i know MD is only playing around :) seriously though Mad dog I know what your saying however if you look closely enough you will actually notice many things on the car where ali and steel live together....the cross member for one. hinges are another guards to bulk head another...
personally though I agree I would rather pay the extra 300 but not from a rust point of view more from a serious weight saving point of view...both are good points
Maddog recently did a bit to my Defender. Towbar and snorkel from ARB. Spent the extra on ARB towbar because it is compatible with long range tank ( future fitment ). Once fitted I noticed that it was the same as Hayman Reece bar, which was much cheaper, and not compatible for future long range tank. Only about a week later did they acknowledge the bar was incorrect and they would contact me when correct bar was available. STILL WAITING.
In contrast I have fitted a roofrack and awning from Hannibal. Chose them because (in my opinion) they are better than ARB's. Their service made ARB look really ****
Work really hard for my money, accessories are few and far between although they will eventually all get there.
I am really put off by the treatment of the big companies.. And this is not new either, previous Discovery went in for a lot to be fitted, After all being organised , on picking up later in the day I was informed that cargo barrier was incorrectly delivered and I would have to come back in a few weeks to get it fitted.
Turned into a bit of a rant, although I like a lot of ARB gear and will be back for more, I hate their service. Other companies (Hannibal) have been great to deal with. One of the big ticket items on the list is a roof top tent. I know who I will be going to for that.
Cheers

I'm a lotus owner aswell which has an ali chassis, the rollbar however is not for obvious reasons, its 8 years old now and am seeing the effects of the chemical reactions where it joins the chassis.
Sometimes you just can't get round it but always good practice to use ali when you can, even on a steel car
Had a look to see if there is a hannibal branch over in Wait Awhile (WA) it seems they only have a stockist about 50 odd km's from me which is a bit far away, it does seem over here if you don't own a cruiser they are not interested, why do aussies have land rovers so much:confused:
Not sure if I can plan ten years ahead.
If I buy a new roofrack and wonder if there is some rust in that time, I need to get a life.
I would however always try to put an alloy roofrack rack on rather than steel just to lower the centre of gravity.
Have had both and yes steel is much more durable but putting all that weight up there with some spare tyres and fuel and tools and what else is asking for trouble but that is just personnel choice with some physics and basic maths I guess.
I also look at quick release and points for straps and ropes etc.
good luck and happy shopping
I wouldn't have worried at all about the galvanic corrosion. The steel ARB bar has a good powerdercoating, it sits in a coated gutter channel and the clamps are also powder coated. If the Defender is anything like the Discovery, then the gutter channel is also coated.
There is already a mix of steel and aluminium in the body.
