The Good Things About Your Occupation

Well I thought I might start a thread, post up what you really enjoy about your job and why you do it 5 days a week (more or less depending on your contract )

I'm an apprentice diesel fitter and I quite enjoy field service especially when you get to work next to a view like this on such a nice day (25 degrees + or -)

Last time I was there it was pouring with rain

When I was a young bloke I worked for a NSW Govt dept fixing electronic gear and photocopiers. Got to drive just about every road north from Orange to the QLD border and west to Mildura on their petrol. These days I get to go overseas a bit but I know what I'd rather be doing.
    My van just outside Bourke:

Another one of the van between Nyngan and Warren

The mighty Maverick, north of white cliffs on the way to Tibooburra. 240,000 Km in 18 months and the only thing that broke was a crack in the firewall and a pinhole in the radiator.

I am building my 1st apartment in the city at the moment, biggest project I have undertaken and making lines on paper rise out of the ground and making it work is challenging.
    Bring it on.
On weekends I run my bar and kind of feel like I am the old man behind the bar a bit now.
Still, its what I build up and still love the challenge and like giving the young ones a run.

I try to squeeze as much as possible into a day and love a achallenge.

I work in electrical wholesale and used to enjoy the interaction with the sparkies and got on really well with the boss, we mucked around throwing Pythonic quotes at each other and customers and generally had a good day while being productive.
Now I am in a centralised purchasing role for five branches, sit at a computer all day and don't talk to anyone except my offsider.

The best thing about my job is going home.

I design and make models, mainly train models but will be starting a few motor vehicle models soon. I mostly use CAD and CorelDraw on the computer. I always was a bit of a train enthusiast, have been messing with models for years and really enjoy the technical/precision side of designing so its right up my alley

I have a job and I can pay my household expenses, but not buy all the toys I would like to acquire.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I get to run my workshop in a fun relaxed way. Listen to music all day and best of all talk to people about their classic cars and motorbikes. It's very cool that I could change careers completely and work with my hobby each day

    Cheers,

i would have to agree, that a smile and simple thankyou is usually the best thing, which doesnt happen to often, but also, and probably the best is knowing at least one person in different lines of work that has anything to do with auto (i'm a mechanic) - so panel beaters, fabricators, engineers, glassiers etc all make getting things a little easier and 'cheaper'.
