Another Used car dealer thread...
Why do I always feel like I need a shower after dealing with them...
I am sure there are good used car dealers - and no offence to any on here.
I went to have a look at a peugeot that a colleague was looking at buying. 2005 model, 35k km - looked great.
I had a look underneath - there was at least 0.25" of grease/oil/dirt on the subframe between the front wheels. So something was (or had been) leaking bad.
The dealer had just been saying (for about the 5th time) how it was A1 and had just had a full service. He didn't like it when I said that "with all due respect, I don't call that a full service when it was left like that underneath".
He phoned the service dept. They said a part had been ordered/replaced??? He couldn't say what. When my colleague told him to phone her back when he finds out what the part was, he said the car would be sold by the afternoon if she didn't take it now...
Needless to say we walked away...
p.s. - if this should go in the rants section, please move it.
p.p.s. - this was an auto. I couldn't find the dipstick for the trans. Does it have one (small peugeot - 305???).
EDIT - The front tyres were almost bald - maybe just legal. As soon as I mentioned it he said it was about to have 2 new tyres fitted. Strange that it was the first time he had mentioned it, as he had mentioned the "full service" 5 times.

3 weeks ago we were in the market for a car for my son. Kind of liked a Polo for the safety record but was not sure of the particular car we were looking at. The dealer gave us the buy it now or the other lady takes it this afternoon line. We promptly left it for the other lady - it's still there.
