you forgot the eskimo's Damn bloody eskimo's impregnated my rooster
tell me why that doesnt surprise me.....
I wasn't going to go too much into it but u would think they would have some sympathy and hove my family some more time to figure something out. From what the agent tells me they own another house and unit which they rent it out to there reletives. Talk about a take over I'm really ****ed off and upset. Just found out too that they are not from a Asian desent but another culture which I'm not going to day anything but it popular in the news at the moment. I give up with this country.
I'm sure it does count for having a good history but it's the one months rent and bond that puts a cloud over our heads with the situation we are in. I'mean I'm trying hard to bring up my family the best o could but it's bloody hard. Being retrenched from work to make way for there own wmployies to take over is just ludicres.
All of the above is true in a 'Normal' rental market but in Vic we have a vacancy rate of less than 1% atm so finding good tenants is not hard. This situation is also making landlords harder than normal as they know there is always another tenant who will pay more, or put up with crap rather than go through finding another property.
How do I know all this...... I'm an agent.
All that said, start fronting up to open for inspections and get talking to the agent. DON'T just walk through and give your name like everyone else. A few minutes of letting the agent get to know you will make them infinitely more helpful. They may even be able to get you in on a property that is not yet vacant (one they know will be coming up soon), that way you get the inside running. Your good record WILL help you if you do this.
Good luck mate.
PS: You will probably qualify for a Ministry of Housing Bond loan so you'll just need to get the months rent together
It's not what you want to hear Simon ... But I recon 60 days notice is quite good ... and you've had 4 years stability .... Rentals are a business and not a right to a permanent home .... I hope one day your graced with the ability to purchase your own land with a house on it, so that you can really call it "Home" ... No matter how it looks ....
And yes, I know how hard the "2 & a half gees" is to get, when ya don't have it ...
It will all work out tho ....

Hey Joker,
Same thing is happening to us at the moment, although we have only been in the place for 4 months! Fell for the old "because you are a new tenant with us, we will only look at a 6 month lease", a complete arsehole for us.
Might be a perfect time, given the nippers are below schooling age, to maybe pack up the disco and a trailer and cruise the country for 12 months or so?
Go and see the "real" Australia, the remote and rural communities that are littered all across this great brown land of ours. Pick fruit, work as a farm hand, get close enough to something industrial and you might even get some good coin for doing just about anything? Play your cards right and living this way can be a lot cheaper than suburbia and the adventure is just a bonus.
Not for everyone I know but hey, just a thought?
Don't you have the last bond held by the bond board, or Vic. equivalent. When we moved I reclaimed the bond after eighteen years.
With interest.
Dunno how it works but the interest sucked. Pretty sure I wasn't getting compound interest, or anything near market rate.
O.K. Joker..
1, how long does your lease have left???
2, a bond loan could work till you get your bond back from current premises.
Mate I feel for ya, we have moved 5 times in 2 years. First 2 for sons health, then we just got stuffed around once we got back to brissy.
3months into a lease & they sold the house, 3 kids to move on job.. it's F(naughty word) hard mate.
Of course if you have not found anything and just stay put they have to go through the whole legal process to get you out. And if you have the hearings delayed, well...
I know this from friends that have rental properties and it has taken them months to get someone out and this usually applies to tenants who know the rules and play them to the limit. Obviously it does not harm the tenant as in my friends case the agent put them in even though they have obviously played this game before.
So, for what it is worth, do some reading of the regulations...
Howard
PS I don't agree with it being a culture, race or whatever issue - you get good and bad landlords/tenants from every walk of life.
