Thread: What is Fraser like in early Jan?

I've never been in Jan but I've been several times in Dec. It will be a bit hotter then, but I don't think the marsh flies come in until March/April.

That's school holiday time so there will likely be lots of peeps around.

i have been three time...never in jan, i don't reckon you can go wrong with any month at fraser..

How hot/humid? depends on the breeze, one good thing is there is plenty of water to keep you cool

I've been home a fortnight and as I type this I am still covered in marsh fly bites

This would be our second visit, the first being in October 2008 when we beach camped near Eurong . This trip was as near to perfect as it could get & we are keen not to spoil the memories.

I have done the search thing but not come up with specific answers.

Definately March flies
Hot
Humid.

The masses seem to roll in on Boxing day and roll out again just before work starts again after new years.

It'll be a great time to be there.

I went in March in 2007 and literally got chased off the bloody island by them. You could do nothing other than constantly swat them between sunrise and 10 am, and then from about 4pm until dark. A local told me in his 10+ years on the island he'd never seen them so thick

Thanks for the replies folks. Based on experiences in northern NSW I had rather hoped that the masses would leave just after new year & would have swatted all the marsh flies for us already.
