No, the accident was completely different training and situation, still SAS though.
And if that concerns you, you should go where they're going, then you'd have something to worry about.
You'd have more to worry about if they weren't around.
Been enjoying hearing and watching them all month.
They can fly, rotate and hover over my house all day and night if they wish.

Was watching them today while I was working at the RAAF base, they are a nice toy.
Will see them again tomorrow as I will be playing at the base again all day.

I was only satating how I felt, and I was a little concerened (rightly or wrongly).
All I remember the media saying about the crash was "night excersizes" and that's what they were doing over melbourne!
I certainly have nothing but respect for the individuals in our armed forces, past and present, and I don't think I was in any way having a go at them - I'm sorry if you read it as such.

Perhaps a post along the lines of "No Fraser, you had nothing to worry about as the training they are doing are completely different........." would have had me feeling better.

    Cheers,

    Fraser

The purpose of the black hawk training around Brisbane at the moment is purely for the pilots to gain experience flying around a big city. They have to get the experience from somewhere.

The 96 blackhwak accident near Townsville was more due to the pilots training with Night vision goggles which unfortunately aren't very good when it comes to depth perception ie: the other helicopter was closer than it appeared.

We spent a month in the caravan park in Townsville along side the base many years ago. Got used to them. Came out one day and one was hovering 10-15metres above our van.
