    Defender Air Con

Does anyone know of anybody in the Redcliffe/Brisbane area who could retro fit Air Con to a Defender ?
The 90's have both arrived in Brisbane and I am just waiting for them to be delivered. Neither 90 has Air Con and my wife will probably struggle with the heat at the moment. So I would like to get Air Con fitted to her 90 to make things a bit more comfortable. It's a standard 300Tdi 90 with no extras (apart from bull bar, winch and snorkel) or modifications.
I will be OK as I have purchased a (cough, cough, spit) a Nissan Patrol which already has Air Con.
The Patrol was purchased mainly for the big trips. I would have loved to have purchased a Land Rover but can't afford a D3, want a bit more comfort than a 110 and need something bigger than a Disco.
    Sorry for swearing.

    TIA

    Ivan

I remember talking to a fellow who worked for a Land Rover dealer years ago and I am sure he said they used to fit under dash aircons from F100's to early Defenders and they were twice as good as the Landy aircons. Maybe someone here can offer more info or just tell me I am full of shhh....

With the temp getting up around the 40 mark again I might have to check this out myself.

MR Automotive would be a good place to start.

    Hello

when I originally bought my 110 defender (Aug 2008) I looked into getting air con fitted and the guys at british off road quoted approx $2000 to supply 2nd hand parts and fit the system. I then found MR Automotive who are nice and close in Redcliffe however, they said that was a good price and I should go with them.

Unfortunately, british off road only had a kit for the 300tdi not the 200tdi which I required at the time. I found them very helpful and they are not so far away based in Buderim. www.britishoffroad.com.au

    Hope this helps

i am working something out with jeremy at speedy : Speedy Air Spares
or you could go elite which i have reliably been informed are crap in Aus as they dont go the yards here, they are the OE units land rover use in the old country and Europe ...but jeremy is half the cash just needs a little re-configuring and possibly dumping of the heater box as his does hot and cold, if you can wait i should hear back tomorrow cheers Andy

I would look further afield than a Defender unit.
Look into the type of units fitted to earthmoving gear.
The underbonnet fitings are standard, the in cab cooling unit is the difference between cool air and COLD air.
If you can find room for the incab unit you will get a lot better aircon and probably cheaper than OEM
