Let me get this straight, you don't like people sitting in the 2nd row seating of vehicle? The second row looks as badly damaged as the rear cargo/seating area.
You get damage of the same extent to the front seats when a car gets "T" boned or wraps itself around a tree or power pole.
My guess it's hard to tell what caused the crash unless you were there at the time or at least examined the scene and factors surrounding the crash.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
looks like a big hit from behind by a flat nose truck, my guess if it where anything other than a 4wd there would be nothing left of the front or rear seats let alone 3rd row seats.
whoever buys it to wreck, sell me the winch bar please
serious![]()
yeah i would have said a 3 tonner or the like
What ever hit it was either big or going bloody fast. And as some one else mentioned about being T boned.
I would not have wanted to be sitting in the rear when this happened but I think I would rather be there than in the second row seat on the outer when hit by the same object.
Dave.
I meant cargo area seating, there is NO 'crumple' zone at all and there is no doubt anyone sitting in the 3rd row would be in serious trouble in this instance. Saab refused to design/sell a vehicle with ANY rear cargo area seating, and suggested if anyone wanted 7 seats in a family wagon to go and buy a VolvoI personally believe Saab to be a very safety conscious manufacturer.
This is also a personal viewpoint, and illustrated quite well by that particular vehicle.
Many injuries can result from any kind of MVA, this was just my way of saying ' I don't believe rear seating is safe, take a look at this!'

Judging by the damage, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Disco changed lanes, elimenating the other vehicle's braking distance. Even a small truck can weigh six tonne, a lot of mass to pull up in a hurry.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
