Anyone done a "Land Rover Experience Day"?
When I first spoke to a salesman at Austral Motors in Brisbane, I recall he said that the dealership runs 'experience' days where they teach Disco owners the capabilities and limits of their car (?)
Has anyone ever been to one of these days...?
If so, what happens on them?
All reports welcome, thanks.

MobyDisco,
I recently completed one, (in Sydney) however thought I would reply anyway.
Our day was spend at River Island Bend (off the Wombean Caves Road) about 1.5 hrs South of Sydney , driving various sections of trail with instructors.
I really enjoyed the day. As a keen but novice offroader I learned a lot about the vehicle, the terrain response system, hill decent control etc and drove a number of sections with the instructors either having done them in their own D3 or giving guidance and encouragement.
However the greatest benefit was that my wife came along and drove all sections as well. This allowed her to see what the D3 is capable in an environment she felt confident in, it also meant it was not just me telling her to drive our new $70K vehicle up and down tracks she would never have contemplated previously. Much more relaxing for both of us.
Our day a Trivett dealership day run by Jenny Davidson at Drive4 (Drive4 - Advanced Driver Training). Jenny loves her Land Rovers and knows them inside and out which was just as helpful as actually getting in and driving them.
All in all it was a really enjoyable day that gave us an insight into how capable the D3 really is and how easily it will tackle things that I would have not had the confidence to do or at least take my wife on with me.
If, like most on this forum you actually purchased your D3 with the intention of using the 4wd part of its capability but like me have only had limited 4wding experience or you simply wanted to get to know the vehicle and drive some tracks you have not driven before then this is a good way to start.
Day was totally catered for so all we had to do was turn up and enjoy.

Thanks George. Like you, I see the advantages being not only improving my own skills, but also getting my wife along to build her confidence in the car (and me LOL!)

I also did one with Jenny down here in Sydney.
My missus wasn't going to drive at all during the day, but she couldn't resist getting behind the wheel as she saw I was having so much fun. Then of course I went appropriately green in the passenger seat. Oh for the 2nd set of pedals. No problems mind you, just one very nervous passenger (and not a reflection on her skills, just my nerves).
BTW if there is one of these in Brisbane my old man would love to attend.
AP.

I also did the Sydney Trivett one with Jenny. It was a very useful day to find out in a controlled environment what your car can do.
My only criticism is that she can tend to talk a bit too much and tell too many bad jokes which tends to eat into driving time, but otherwise a great day with extremely knowledgable instructors and good food as well.

Which Trivett dealership did you go through Parramatta or City. I bought my vehicle from City November last year and they promised I would be contacted, then in June promised again. Still nothing. I would like to do this and so would my wife now that she has driven the car in mud and gravel out near Broken Hill.
Thanks
Mike

Romic,
I did mine through the Parramatta dealership. I purchased my D3 in Jan year and like you was told I had to wait about a 3 month before someone would call me to schedule my day in.
After more than 6 months and no feedback from the sales guys
I finally emailed the boss of Trivett directly and had a bit of a whine about lack of customer services blah blah.
I had done some research on who ran these types of days (as I was close to doing it anyway) so I included a link to Jenny Davidson site and suggested they look into using her organisation. Apparently they were already talking but progressing slowly.
Anyway, with in a day or two I had phone calls from the COO and the Head of Sales etc together with an invitation to be the inaugural Parra customer in late October. When I chatted to the inaugural "city customer" they had a similar story of having to make a song and dance before anything happened.
Moral of the story - squeaky wheel gets the oil.

I did an intro day with Trivett Parramatta about 18 months ago. Was the best thing that I could have ever done. Trivett use a company called Getabout Training Services and it was John and Julie that came and led the day. Wow what a team, these guys are the only Land Rover trained instructors in Australia, and what they don't know about D3 and now I suppose D4 isn't worth knowing. These guys do all the stuff for Land Rover Australia, so they must be pretty good.
Keep shiny side up.
