    Another young bloke gone

Sadly another young bloke from town lost his life in a car accident near town yesterday.
He was towing a sheep feeder, left the road and hit a tree, the sheep feeder crushed the ute he was driving.
I dont know what it is but we seem have a very high fatal accident rate.
There is a funeral for another 51 yo local tommorow who died on the same road last sunday.

Tragic waste of a hardworking young bloke.
Lived for his farm job and his footy.
Why can farmers tow unlicenced/unbraked sheep grain feeders that when loaded would be well up on 3tonnes under the guise of towed agricultural implement?????(this was a tandem).Any other trailer in WA has to have brakes over 750kg,and breakaway brakes over 2000kg.
He had no chance of stopping it,tow vehicle was a 4wd Rodeo.

Awful news. Nothing sucks more than the next generation going too early. As i get older these things upset me more and more and it doesn't matter if I don't know the person or the family.

Awful waste of life, but I'm wondering what speed he was towing the feeder at?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

That's terribly sad Andrew! You're right about the feeders. We see it around here too. Worksafe will get involved now I suppose,

Terrible news Andrew, and even worse when its a small community, I lost a young crewmember that had been working with me for 4yrs in a bike accident our first night back from sea about 8 yrs ago and he was from a small town in SA.Glad his parents didnt see him as I did when I had to identify him.Went to the funeral and I think the whole town was there, whats even sadder is its getting more common..
A sad sad waste if its proven to be a fault of the traffic legislation..

Sounds like a sad week in your part of the country..

    Cheers Ean

    Again, sad to hear.

Yet we keep paying astronomical prices for fuel and sweet **** all of it goes back to roads.

I agree the regulations for farm equipment on road is a bit outdated. Again, WTF are we paying this much in road and fuel taxes for and not seeing it it back saving lives.

I bet your "budget" for road maintenance is no where near what is required every year Andy. Amounts to not much more than patchups without the Spanish Inquisition from the Government as to why your council should receive 3/5 of F A...

How much could that frickin Belltower have done spread elsewhere.....

I spent 12 years on the road driving all over WA and those "other" states covering as much as 90,000 k's a year and without a doubt, WA has the worst record and system in the country for what we pay.

    Andrew
