    So what was it?

    Just read this on my home page browser, pretty amazing spectacle but no doubt there is a simple answer to it all. But non the less would of been an amazing sight!

    looks like the type of pattern you'd see in fireworks.

    perhaps a company experimenting with some sort of new high-altitude fireworks?
    decide to do it in the early morning when there's less likely to be people watching.

    No, you're all wrong although I like the "drunk reindeer" comment.
    It was obviously a Land Rover pushed out the back of a high flying Hercules with the headlights on.
    The 'chute must have been a tad tangled to make it spiral like that....

    You just can't get good parachute stuffers these days

    I dont know what it was or what it could be BUT when you use search lights it looks like that. Obviously it seems like it was coming from the ground or near to....i reckon it time to "Kick the tires & light the fires big daddy" cause we are being attacked lol.
