The cruise control on the hilux auto disengages as you go down through 40, the one on the defender just doesn't work

technically plausable.... but theres some big iffs and issues of neglect involved.
lets just say that the throttle stuck open and its not cruise control. so it doesnt matter what you do with the electrics the engine will want to rev the same (substitute throttle position sensor AND dont get ahead by saying it would shut off when you killed the engine)
Lets also say that it has some dodgey after market electrics fitted and there is a bridge across the ignition to the alternator output through a relay so that if the alternator is making full output and the ignition is off the relay is held but with the electricity flow in reverse (fozzy has a relay deliberately installed like this to prevent a battery failure from stopping the fuel pumps)
so now we have an engine that just wont shut down because you cant get the revs down low enough
Some autos have a feature that will not allow neutral to be selected if there is more than a certain number of RPMS on the tach, this is partially to prevent engine over rev by selecting nuetral under load and part of the "no slamming from reverse to forwards or vice versa" protection. This doesnt stop you from selecting first.
I want to see the result of the investigation because
a, theres a car company thats going to have a recall mandated on it OR
b, someones going to get his but kicked for illegal and dangerous mods.

Were does it say it jammed at 50kmh?
I see 50 in terms of a distance, but not as a velocity. The eastern is 100 kmh

I checked out a V6 Camry for an older lady that I do farm work for.Twice she had the cruise control jam on and couldnt stop it.I couldnt replicate it but did note signs of coolant stains on the inlet manifold.I did a fair bit of googling and found that the same vehicles in the US had an issue with the throttle jaming at full throttle due to a small coolant leak/spot overheating causing the steel throttle shaft in the aluminium housing to sieze.
She went back to the dealer with the info, first treated her like a silly old lady and told her she was dreaming. She gave them the CD ROM with all the US info.2 weeks later they gave her a brand new vehicle with no explination!!!!!

WHAT IS CRUISE CONTROL????
Is it when you are driving around a red light district with a full wallet and you don't make an impulse purchase????![]()
Sounds like either...
A) he panicked and wasn't thinking about what he was doing. Why couldn't he turn it off? or pull it out of gear? Sounds suss to me...
or
B ) He decided to play a bit of real life "need for speed" and then thought up some hairbrained excuse...
