Note the engine was fitted a few years before the perenties came on the scene.

The above excludes the perenties - of which about 3000 were produced between 1985 and 1995.
Like I said, they are not a Land Rover designed-built vehicle, they are an Australian vehicle. The Poll is about LR engines fitted in production line vehicles not vehicles fitted with locally sourced engines from CKD kits. Pat

Whats the Better Engine?????? 200Tdi/300Tdi or the V8???????????

Guess this battle has been going on for a long time so if ya got something to say go right ahead and say it!!!!!!!!!! This is for the more slightly older Landy's.....

At the end of this poll we'll see who the overall winner is.

I myself have never driven a Landy V8 so i cant say...but as to the 300Tdi i just love the bloody thing. Obviously its the fuel consumption thats best described with the diesel's but over all the simplicity of the engine goes a long way especialy when stuck in the bush or where ever. Part wise it could be a little expensive but there are just so many vendors out there your bound to find a cheap parts dealer. Over all foots down for the diesel for me!!!!!

    cheers simon

I have quoted the original post above yours and I can not see where the thread starter stated what you infer

Joker wrote 200-300Tdi or V8,as you mentioned you fitted your engine to your vehicle and the poll is not about engine conversions. Pat

i would say that because there are so many more 300 tdi's out there than 200 tdi's that the pole will be a bit off.

I still hold that compared to each other the 200 tdi is a more stable and reliable motor than the 300 tdi. the 300 is much more common and just about everyone can list the common 300 tdi problems. but i bet very few can list the common 200 tdi problems. in fact there are no real common 200 tdi problems

Well you could say that because more people own the 300tdi then there is going to be a whole lot more opinions about problems where as if there are less 200tdi owners there would be less opinions and problems being voiced...

Nah I think our 200tdi is a far more robust engine than our 300 personally....

we have absolutely abused the 200 and it just keeps on bouncing back
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    200TDI

Even though I now run a 300TDI I have to agree with dullbird about the 200.I have seen many reviews and the most common report is that its virtually "bullet Proof"
My 300 has performed well but I did do a head gasket. With the 200 I belted the hell out of it ( a lot of offroad farm work) with nothing but timing belt changes and normal service costs.
