    B]Where a Woman goes, a Mangoes[/B].

Once, around 25 years ago, I worked in a nursing home for a few months. One day I was having a Mango for my lunch and one of the ladies told me she had never tasted a mango, so a I thought it would be a shame for her to finish her life, without ever tasting one of th best tasting fruit around, so I purchased one of these best tasting fruit in the world for her.

Also absolutely love Advocados and am suprised to find some people cannot stand the taste of them.

Many years before I met her, my wife had purchased a Custard Apple from the Green Grocers, and absolutely hated it, never eating them again till the following happened.

In the mid 1990's I was given a stack of Custard Apple seconds [mild skin blemishes] from an Organic grower whose farm we visited on a Organic Gardening TAFE excursion, and after much persuasion my wife tried a small bit of one of these Custard Apples expecting it to be horrible like the one that she had ytried years before had been. She found this one that I gave her was terrific. See she had given up on Custard Apples because of one off tasting one, but does love Custard Apples now, she has eaten a good one.

I suggest it may be the same with all those poor people who hate the taste of Mangoes, and do not know what they are missing. They may have got one that was not so terrific and so judge all mangoes by that one. Personally I have eaten some very mediocre mangoes and also eaten many very terrific ones.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We have both an Avocado and Custard apple tree at our place.
We dont like either but the Birds love them, which is good enough for us.
    They do provide good shade.

We love our Mangoes but !!

The only trouble with custard apples while they taste great one becomes a seed spitting champion because of the number of seeds in just one.

Sorry Disco44, but flying foxes are protected in NSW too (not that it stops some people).

Another way to preserve mangoes is to peel them, slice them finely and dehydrate them.

They are a very light and flavoursome treat when out bush (or anywhere else for that matter).

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

You can, it's just not legal though.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
