    I hear you ...wanna swap

I'm not a city person at all, and this is currently a means to an end.

If the speed of light = 299,792,458 m/s, what is the speed of dark?

Well I'll hopefully get a forklift license soon then try to get some work at one of the nearby trucking depots or factories, to keep me going while trying to get fit enough for the Army Reserve.

Always best to keep moving forward. Forklift licence is always handy to have - even labouring/odd jobbing at larger hardware stores and the like. All the best for the Reserves too.

I would love to live there, it is a beautiful part of the country. Is it economically feasible to live up there if your not working for the company?

I thought your employer subsidized living expenses or is that now a thing of the past?

Having been there I know who your new employer is, when I was there visiting relo's, there were two auto place in town

Most employers subsidise wages or accommodation in some way. The mining company just do it to a higher level. However a second wage in the household is always a bonus even if it is only part time.

The housing market here is similar to Darwin but supply of houses to purchase is small. Rental market is VERY high and is still way ahead of Darwin. We have had a mortgage since 1998.

Not sure when you were up here Dobbo but there is only the one dealership up here - I rwalise I wasn't specific about that in the original post. Still a number of privately operating mechanics.
    Cheers, Dale

Yep! Retirement. The plan was to go on 20th Jan - the 45th anniversary of my starting work on my 17th birthday.
