By the way I am reading the article, the pedestrian would have been lucky to survive regardless of what hit him.

The fact that it was a 4wd is irrelevant, but the press love to knock them at every opportunity.

Considering that at a guess, the NT would have more 4wd's per capita than any state in the country, just goes to show how irrelevant mentioning it is. Fair enough, mention it in the article, provided that a similar article would also mention if it was a Falcodorre or similar, but to use it in the headline, is just sensationalism.

Its all about sensationalising things. "Hit by a 4WD" sounds more controversial than "hit by a car".

If you read further down the article the previous person killed there was hit by a passing motorist. That's what I was trying to point out.You are both right in your observations ....in the modern press nothing gets in the way of a good story.

wasnt even a four wheel drive, it was a toyota landcruiser.

I like how later in the article its mentioned that earlier in the year in the same spot another pedestrian was killed and the pedestrian was drunk, not far from the humpty doo hotel....

no mention of drunk pedestrians in the headlines tho.

Comments like "standing in the middle of the road" and "driver not speeding" and "90km/h" lead me to believe that this was nothing more than poor judgement at best, natural selection at worst.

At 90km/h it could have been a motor-scooter and he'd still be dead...

don't know about that one, I thought Vespa's just evaporated into a cloud of smug when they crashed.

Question about Vespa's: Do they retract when not in use to give the rider that, Travoltesk strut as they walk down the streets of the CBD handing out paper leaflets to promote saving the trees.

and if it were a scooter, the rider most likely would be dead too.
