Jeez compared to the Disco, the toyota is ugly as dog crap.

I’ve seen a few of these reports lately and they talk about the toyota as if it was always good, but when push comes to shove, they have never been anywhere near as good as the D3 or the D4, it’s just that they can no longer keep up the has-been rhetoric.
Look at the clip, the toyota is the runner up but their carrying on like it should be the winner.
Even this clip starts out as if the toyota is a wonderful machine when it has always been 5 to 10 years behind land rover.
It’s amazing how much loyalty you can BUY!
Why is it I only get voice and no video when I open the link.
I saw this posted else where and the same thing happened.

Rigged. Toyota is clearly the winner. Land Rover must be bribing every judge and expert in the world.

Can't help but agree with the outcome - but did they actually test them offroad ?
Never been a big fan of Drive anyway (even if I do agree with them sometimes).
I'd say the more interesting and valid comparison recently was when the D3 won the same comparison in 4WDAction. Given that this magazine and in particular, one or two of its journos, are well known for bagging Landrover in favour of anything rice consuming, this win has a bit more credibility (and hasn't it upset the usual Tojo tragics on their web site). At least these blokes do get out and test 4WD's in some of the environment where we'd all like to see them tested.
Cheers .........

I'd say the reticence of the judges probably has something to do with LR's past reliability problems and also the sheer retailing power of Toyota, ie, they don't want to p' them off too much for sake of retribution down the track, hence the overtly prominant coverage of the Cruiser versus the lesser coverage of the Disco, despite it being the winner overall.
I guess like anyone else, journo's want to back a winner and know it will stay a winner. In that regard, hopefully the D4 will not be an anti-climax when it comes to reliability reputation and re-sale value.
...and now Toyota are having their own reliability dramas![]()
