fixing a leaking tap on christmas day

so this tap reseating tool what does it do does it just clean out the tap as such also do i just need to replace that little thing that i wrapped up in tape i think im going to do all the taps they are all hard to turn off all the way as in someone else can never turn them off and leaves them dripping all the time so maybe some new little plug things and the valve reseating tool to do them all

The re-seating tool shaves a bit from the seat. If used too often, or cut too deep, it will wreck the tap. Take the minimum from the seat that gives an evan surface for the washer to seal on. As for the other taps, try new washers first.

I replaced all the taps in our bathrooms, kitchen and laundry with these 1/4 turn ceramic valves years ago and have never looked back.

They're a bit of an expense initially, but pay for themselves in the long run. Have never had to replace any valves / washers etc since installing them.
