Some people don't like showing there rego number because they think government agents might troll the web searching for illegally modified vehicles that they can then issue defect notices on. If the number plate isn't legible, then they can't track the owner.

I think it is generally OK to post a pic showing a plate provided you have the consent of the owner. I personally dont see a major problem with it as the plate is in full public view when on the street. Hell, mine is my forum name and my avatar

I wish someone would steal mine,it's insured for 16K!!!.It has PAT303 plates and they are bright blue if anyones interested. Pat

Not that I think it would apply on here, but one of the potential problems with posting your number plates might be other people "reporting" vehicles which they believe to be illegally modified.

Reading this definitely shows us how good we have it here with a well run forum.

I've got no hesitation in posting a pic including my rego number on this forum, but would have second thoughts on some other forums that I've seen.

Anyone in public can see your car with your plate on it, and report it if they so wish.

What a crock.

I remove my plates from photos I paste online just as a precaution. Doesn't take long to do and might save me a headache one day for whatever reason.

I remove other peoples plates from photos I post up as a courtesy to the owners in case they think the same way I do.
