I wonder how the new 1.5m shark rule will affect the "finners" up north...

    - many pro netters collect shark fin on the side... not just the blow in indo fishermen.

    - and a good thing we CAN still spear crays I say!!! that noosing is too tricky

Well, true. But it is a bit hard to return a berried female after she has a spear through her...

I'm just annoyed my cray (yabbie) traps aren't legal for marron over here

    Ben,
Spear and release... its just like fillet and release and pink eye salmon only caught between November and February... (this means I am not being serious!)

What I do find particularly amusing is eating at a restuarant on say day 9 of the 10 day coral reef fin fish closure in October and November... and on the menu is "fresh red emporer" and then asking the waiter to choose one of three options:

1/ either it is not red emporer.
2/ or it is not fresh.
3/ or it has been caught and kept in the closure.

good for a laugh before I choose something else!
