I remember starting my first job in 1970 & the boss asked what my interests were & I said Landrovers & he said OH a Leyland brother !!
So maybe its a 69 model?
Birdwood swaps vehicles for displays with other Museums from time to time. It may be possible to re-united them for an anniversary at some time in the future.
I'll have a chat to the Birdwood people next time I'm there.
So Tony, let us know if it's a done deal. I'm sure there's a long que behind you
Congrats (if not premature) on a unique purchase.
regards
Mick
I know this is not the one but I have been googling around to see if I can find any later vehicles that may be the one.
Thought I'd post it up anyway cos it's such a nice shot. (Sorry if it's a repeat)

I believe it had a holden 6 in it. (161?)
Love the spare wheel holder on the roof - is that an oil cooler on the bonnet?
Does the Series 2 still have its 2.25?
I remember just a few years ago driving in a Defender convoy of two just north of Newman on the way to the way to Marble Bar on the Nullagine road and meeting a road gang doing some work on a washout. The lollipop guys didn't think we'd have UHF. We overheard one say to his mate and the grader driver - "Hang on mate, we've got the bloody Leyland Brothers coming through". As we passed we heard "Strewth, how did they make it up here in those!".
Toyota fans, they're so rude.
