The problem is not that anyone needs to see the movie again to get the messages, but rather that the messages are so simplistic and obvious that the plot is too predictable.Quote:

None of the research I have done about the movie suggests that it has any complicated message that I missed.
I saw it today in 3D - took it for what it was - and enjoyed it. :)

We finally got to see it tonight, Some pretty good visual effects but I think some of the sound effects are becoming too unreal. 8/10 from me ;)
We tried to see it last week, but by the time we had parked the car and walked to the cinema the last 90 seats had been sold :eek: probably took us 10 minutes at the most, so we went to see "Old Dogs" with John Travolta and Robin Williams.
I laughed so much I got stomach ache :D, thoroughly recommend it.
I went to see it in 3D without knowing what it was about, other than that it was setting box office records and some mates' references to Pocahontas and Dances with Wolves.
Conclusion ... it was such a visual treat that a complex plot would have just gotten in the way of the great ride.
A no-brainer maybe, but the eye candy was so good that I didn't miss not having to think.
I totally agree. The message seems to have been written to target the lowest common denominator and yet it wouldn't have been that difficult to have written a plot to challenge you. The characters were so polar opposites that army guy (I'm hopeless with character names) was automatically so void of humanity that you had no choice but to hate him, but this is totally unrealistic.Quote:

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the movie - I really did. It's the first full 3D movie I've seen and it would have been memorable for that alone, but the visual effects were breathtaking.
vnx205, I think you need to look a little deeper. How about the disregard of native rights, just because they believe that the land owns them and not not visavis. Brits ignored indigenous writes in Australia because they layed no claim to the land. And most people still ignor any spiritual link they beleave in. Just as in the movie. There was also the link to all the differant tribes in differant climates. The bugger the science study of the ecoligey, get the minnerals attitude. Be nice to animals and they might be nice to you. Only kill what you need ( kind of thought they'd be vegies) Ill stop now because your prob' stoped reading this.:)

I've read mixed reports on the more common Real D 3D theaters versus IMAX 3D theaters. I think we (Perth) also have access to one IMAX digital 3D theater (Hoyts Cannington), but again I've read mixed reports on that too. Has anyone seen the movie in both theaters and could recommend which one to go too?
