Agreed. There are only two types of people in this world, those who have tried Windhoek (pronounced 'Vindhook') Lager and, those poor lost souls who are yet to. Available in two South African shops in Melbourne.

Tusker from east Africa ain't a bad drop either.

350RRC, you are almost right. About 20 years ago I was good friends with one of the brewers at CUB in Sydney and was told that Crown is actually Fosters lager but with an extra 2 weeks fermentation to improve the flavour "slightly" (my quote marks). I also have the feeling that VB and Melbourne Bitter are only seperated by whichever run of labels is in the machine at the time but I can't verify that one. MB never took off in NSW it just goes to show the power of advertising. It just amazes me that people think they are getting a so much better beer when they pay more money. BTW, it has been proven many times in blind tastings that after 3-4 beers, unless you change to a completely different style ie stouts or "black" beers, it is almost impossible to seperate the taste of regular beers. I know pretty much every beer drinker will disagree but having been in the pub game most of my life I have seen it proven time after time.

Umm - you both realise that Windhoek in Namibia has had direct potable reuse of wastewater since 1968. So that beer you guys are drinking has passed through a whole bunch of Namibians before you get to drink it (if you are drinking the stuff brewed in Windhoek)

I agree it doesn't taste too bad, but there are a lot of better beers. For those in Brisbane, Baie Lekker products at Tingalpa sell it. Corkers Liquor at east vic park also had/has some.

Come on...take a risk....put both of them on the chopping block and nominate what is better.

One of my mission's in life has been to go around the world and seek out bad beers. Ain't found many, I think they are all OK it is just that some are better than others and, all are great when you are in a place where you can't get any...beer.

I will add 2M (pronounced Doysh M)and Laurentina to my African list, both brewed in Mozambique.
