    Defender fault

Hi, is there someone in Cooma with a Nanacom, who can help out a friend of a friend. They have a dead TD5 Defender, already changed the fuel pump and injector harness, among other things.

Crankcase sensor or a low battery voltage will also disable it.

the crank angle sensor is a hall effect sensor plug it into a multimeter with a Hz count function or a crow and fire it over.

have you checked all the usual suspects like earths and the fuel pump relay or an after market immobiliser?

My bet is on 'topside switch failed' fault in ECU.

    solution - new /exchange ECU

Thanks all. the crank case angle sensor was replaced early on. It appears the ECU is faulty but before buying a new one they want to reprogram this one to try it in another Defender. They are also getting another wiring loom - from the injectors to the ECU - not a simple job on a Defender.

Is there someone in Canberra who may be able to assist - they are happy to travel there. You can PM me and I will pass on the info.

    Thanks, Erich
