Thread: PIA EGR blanking change out

Wellwoke to a marvelous morning thinking will whack on the EGR blanking kit, should take an hour. Well should have known better nothing is ever simple with a Land Rover. Well lower hex nut on the exhaust manifold was stripped, Not wanting to have to remove the manifold tried everything to get it of and of course it snapped off inside the manifold. Well what started as a simple job has turned into most of the day and some of tommorow. Had to remove the manifold, drill out and helicoil. Just final reassembley to go now, about an hour in the morning.
But some positives came out of this disaster, got to try out my helicoil kit and it is just magic. Also got to grind the webbing out on the manifold and check all exhaust studs. All good so not a total loss.
As usual with the stupid design of these TD5s, plan your time and quadruple it.
