Luckally where I live the roos are small [biggest males about 3 feet high, most roos smaller], unlike those large roos out west. In 20 years of driving country roads all the time, and before that often once a week, only hit one roo, but sadly took out two Echidnas, and sadly a family of ducks [ducklings], a tawny frog mouth, some lizards, etc.
Hit a few other animals that survived being handed over to wildlife carers, though did not get feedback from carers how they went.
So sad to hear you dammaged your car.

Almost, two nights ago on the way home, picked up two in the high beam but had time to brake and avoid them.
If I had know earlier you wanted to know the result of an impact I could have let the car run on, purely for scientific research of course.

I've always been a big believer in not swerving too much. In this situation I lined him up on the right corner in hope we would save the inter cooler. It worked
Had a look at the linky you sent. I've actually seen that one on the northern side of Sydney. The dents gave it away.
Yes they help.
I have them on three other vehicles here. It will make them move sooner and you pick them up earlier as a rule. Not so good if your low flying though.
I have one here for my MN but waiting for the bar before fitting it.
A few blokes here have them so we did some testing...
Mixed results and unpredictable was our conclusion...
Sometimes the Roos bound out when hearing the noise, othertimes they turn away, others dont move at all...
Also have a few with them who have had huge dents in their vehicles
The noise is not effective.... I've never ran them personally and up until last year had never hit a Kangaroo in hundreds of thousands of kilometers of night driving in known Roo areas.... Its luck of the draw.
I mean, we had a few hop out (from standing still beside the road) and hop into the back and sides of the discovery as we passed (we were doing 30-40km/h at the time).. They really arent as smart as Sonny Hammonds pet was

The other big one we have to watch out for is Wedge Tail Eagles they fill up on road kill and then can’t fly out of the way, good thing is you can usually see the from a fair distance and able to blast the horn and slow down and this gives them time to move.
