The starting month could be determined by whatever time frame is needed to sort out the technical problems and organise the entries.
    Exactly what I was thinking.

Can I get a small format calendar to hang in my Landy so I can plan ahead which week to depart for a daytrip?

the time frame really also needs to be organised around the making of the actual calendar. its not just bung a couple of pics in and bobs your uncle..

it took a number of months to get the last one right you wouldn't think so but there was a fair bit of backwards and forwards when it came the to proofing...etc

If I was doing a calendar I certainly would not do one now for July...in my experience from the last one it would not get done in time...

remember the last calendar was totally sponsored by great sponsors on this site..all those things take time to coordinate.

Thanks DB, I was thinking similar. 10 months might be pushing it

My plan would be something like:

    Mail out: Start Dec
    Packaging and Collecting money:Oct/Nov
    Printing: Sept
    Typesetting:Aug
    Voting/Judging: July
Locking in sponsors, Collating Photos and dealing with incorrect entries: March/Apr/May/June
    Debating the issue: Feb

    I have probably missed plenty.
I had a very small part to play with the last calender and spent a couple of days fooling around with JC's logo. (not total hours, but it took me that long to find the time)
I imagine there is a helluva lot more coordination, emaiiling, waiting for replies, and organising that Dullbird did last time.

No point setting tight deadlines and not delivering. This revolves around a number of us helping so cant push things too quick as we all have other stuff keeping us busy. (Like surfing aulro )

Anyway, thanks for those who are supportive of getting one happening, especially DB, who did a superb job with the last.

As you can probably tell I am pretty keen to help and I hope you all are too.

    Now where is the camera.

I knew the months I picked at random to illustrate my point were overly optimistic. I thought that it was a big job and it is probably much bigger than I realised.

However my point still stands that there is no reason to assume that a calendar has to start with January. It is just that it turns out that if all the technical problems were solved today and the decision was made to produce a calendar, it might just be ready by January.

I know it isn't as special as an AULRO calendar but we do have 2011 Calendars available (you can be in the running to win one if you enter in the next hour and a half - check the Verandah)

We were also considering making our own next year but wouldn't want to be rivaling AULRO, we'd want to be supporting you all and calling for your entries. We'd certainly be interested in sponsoring and have webspace that can be used for displaying entries if there is ongoing issues with that. Though I'm guessing Dullbird is the best person to be contacting regarding all of this
