some wrecks at fraser island

Sure did Digger. Clayton wetlands were a regular oasis, plenty of greenery and birdlife. Mungerannie was a top litlle stop over. Good tucker, friendly and informative bar, beer wasn't too shabby either. Top camp spots down the back by the lagoon, a bit open to the wind up the top. All in all a real good place to stay. Would have stayed an extra night but wasn't to be. Harley gouge marks still in the floor with 'postie bike ' scratches next to 'em.
Here's a couple of pics.

Most of the gullys in St Andrews were Gold diggings and the old locals used to dump all the old cars, Chevys, Fords and just about any other vehicle, they were usually American, There used to be a lot more of them up until, I think it was the 59 fires.
The Dep of mines cleaned up a lot of the gullies and filled in a lot of shafts and I am told there are a lot more old wreaks buried during the clean up. There also used to be a gold/quartz crusher that was cut up for scrap near Smiths Gully, The Dam wall is the only thing left.
The locals I met during my 15 years of living there told of an amazing history, St Andrews used to be know as the Queenstown diggings. Some of the old wreaks belonged to people I have met and they all told a story.
A lot of history around that area, most of it sadly forgotten.
Andrew
I wonder if he'd like to part with one of those Rover lawn mowers?
