yep one thing I certainly don't miss about the uk is those aggressive little buggers....
you dont even need to aggravate them they go looking for fights
I noticed today we have another european wasp nest.
I ran out of wasp powder so tried to get some from bunnings, but they only has those stupid wasp traps. I got some ant and roach powder and coated the entry points of the nest.
I just checked it as it's on dusk and the blighters were all in the nest, when all of a sudden the buggers swarmed out. I should have waited a bit longer when it was dark.
1 critter hit me on the side of the head and got entangled with in the little hair I had left and repeatedly plunged his stinger in, entangled in my hair whilst I was trying to get him out he kept jabbing away. I was luck the rest of the swarm saw fit to leave me alone.
I was calm, so maybe they do sense when you are scared, I've watched nests calmly prior and haven't been stung before.
I grabbed a bag of frozen veges and plonked that on my head, it certainly took a bit of the shine off the pain.
I will however have the last laugh on these buggers.!![]()

A jug of boiling hot water works well too,, (whilst their sleeping)
I've had to deal with quite a few nests under the carport,, and damn, don't they hurt![]()
2 Liters of Diesel down the hole and 1 Liter of ULP to get er goin', that fixes the little ckers
Not an option this time, fire restriction. And being in a fernery, with tree ferns etc etc I don't want a bush fire.
Snuck out with torch in hand and covered the area surrounding the nest. Then gave the sleeper wall a good kicking to stir them up.
They went ape**** and started humming and buzzing and the ones that came out were covered in poisoned powder, DIE YA BASTARDS
only way out of the nest now is though the powdered entrance![]()
it didn't happen without.....
Good job.
I hate 'em.
One little bastard stung me on the tip of the nose, once. Made the eyes water. I now kill wasps with extreme prejudice.
Get your hands on some Carbaryl. Dust it into the opening of the nest.
They will carry it back inside as they come and go, and when they mix with other wasps inside the nest, they it will transfer to the whole nest.
I have also tried using fuel in a backpack sprayer and that knocks them out alright too (no need to light it - kills them just as raw fuel).
I had one go up my trouser leg once while riding my motorcycle, I could feel something buzzing so I tried to squash it while still riding, of course then the little blighter took it's revenge.
Never stopped and dropped my trousers so fastfunny now but not at the time
