I assume you mean the Queanbeyan show? It was on. went yesterday morning when it was only raining lightly.

I went yesterday arvo with paulp38a. Looked like a good show, even though it was flooded (gumboots were needed). They got a pounding overnight, so it would be worse today. They wouldnt let any of the new cars on the test track as it was too muddy It would have been fun. They wouldnt even let paul go around it in his rangie.

We met Gary.Col who was there in his 101, and bruce davis had his cool demo SVX, with LPG injection and a good tune.

I was going to go down but looked at the Canberra radar this morning and it was all blue with 50+mm o'night in Canberra so gave it a miss. A bit of a shame as I look forward to that show.

Rained most of Saturday, all night Sat nite and real heavy on Sun morn and the event was wound up at 1 pm - then the rain slowed down, saw some blue sky and a little later a nit of sun.

I spoke to a few stall holders and they all seemed happy as most had made good sales despite the rain. They said there were few tyre kickers as the rain scared them off but the diehards were there with their shopping lists. One camping company sold all their tents by Sat afternoon as they had reduced prices so that they did not have to take wet tents back to their shop.

A lot of people were checking out how the camper trailers held up - most of the soft floors had their annexes and kitchen areas flooded but the hard floors only had annexes flooded.

While the sellers seemed to be happy, the organisers (the three main 4wd clubs in Canberra) were reasonably happy even though numbers were down by just under half. Not as good as past years but still OK.

Oh did I mention I was there helping to promote the Outback Heritage Drive 2010 - still looking for registrations. OUTBACK LAND ROVER HERITAGE DRIVE 2010

I went both days as one of the "diehards". By Sunday the mud (slush) was typically around 2 inches deep on the walking tracks, deeper elsewhere, and the organisers were spreading straw on the tracks and pumping water from the low lying areas.

Despite the awful conditions for the exhibitors, created by the extraordinary weather, the event was a real credit to the organisers. It is sad that after such hard work to organise it, promote it and run it so well, the weather should have dealt such a blow to numbers. However we really needed the rain.

The other thing which really surprised me was the universal good will and cheerfulness demonstrated by all despite the rain and mud.

A huge thank you to the organisers and workers: you did a fabulous job.
