Thanks Tote, didn't realise that was the case.

If you live in Queensland the goal posts have been changed in a big way re child restraint seats , not only with the seat design, most of the older designs are now illegal, but also children aged up to seven are required to use booster seats.I would advise members affected to check the dept of transport website to see if their restraints are still legal.
John.
Looking at this guide I don't see that the rules are any different from NSW:
http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/reso...ints_guide.pdf
One of the documents on the site specifically states you can still use booster cushions although they are not recommended, as long as they comply with Australian Standards.

The Defender I recently bought had a great restraint anchor point setup in it as the previos owner had two young kids. Its a round foam covered bar that sat behind the cargo barrier and was bolted in behind the sideways facing rear seats using its bolts.
Now that my kids are too big for child seats I have removed the bar and the rear seats in order to build a timber floor. I have no idea where the bar came from or was made but all that is needed is to have the right person install it and do the compliance plate and you and the kids are on the way to some offroad fun.
All,
if any one needs a tech safe post, I have one for sale, they are about $230 new, so make me an offer, just pm me!

I think some may be getting the wrong idea of what a booster seat is, a booster is not a capsule and is only for kids 4 - 7 that dont require the full to be secured into a properly fitted and anchored seat. We have a couple of the foam boosters and 1 moulded pvc type one, their sole purpose is the raise the seating position of the child so that the seatbelt will secure them properly without allowing them to slip under the belt or be garroted by the belt. I would suggest if your child is just starting to use a booster then using a H harness will provide that extra bit of security although you will need an anchor point to use it.
Well Mosleys had a look at the Fender on the weekend and their standard CRAB bar will not work, as the bar would be more than 100mm below the top of the seat back. They've just rung me and told me they can get a bar specifically for the defender but it'll be $680. :(
They did mention they have some floor mounted options, but I have drawers in the back so that's of no use to me. It might work for others though. Sorry, I didn't get a price for the floor mounted option.
You could always go the way I did last year, and beef up the bottom bar of the cargo barrier and attach anchor points to it. Check http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members-ri...ml#post1075403
