I have a photo of an almost identical one (also on a rusty drum) on the road between Mt Isa and Winton, in 1964, before it was sealed. Unfortunately it is on a slide, and even if I could find it, I don't have a slide scanner. Slight difference in wording - said "LIFT IM FOOT" - and it was a good idea to do so - it was followed by a fairly blind bend and a single lane grid, usually with a deep hole before and after.
