    Warning on Boom gates

Got an email with some pics warning of the dangers of hidden boom gates. Obviously pics from the US, but the principle is the same.

    Take care out there!

A few weeks ago stopped at an acident at Tumbagum. A station waggon with a mum and two young girls, 6 & 8 had impaled itself on a gaurd rail. trapping the mum in the waggon, the rail spearing between the two young children and stopping about a foot from the tailgate.

Read in the paper two days later they where all alive. One of the girls was airlifted to brisbane where she had mcro-surgery on her leg which I saw, with muscle peeled back from the bone. Have not heard anymore, as we went once the first ambulance and police car had arrived. We passed a second Ambulance, and the vounteer resque organisation's truck.

Hi I stayed at a caravan perk a while back and they had a card you had to swipe to get in or out, the gates used to break down all the time so they used to leave the exit gate open. Everyone drove in and out of the exit gate.

They upgraded, Boom gate to get in using card, one way spikes on the exit.

Put up a notice for all the campers informing them of the changes.

They forgot to tell the local meals on wheels Lady who came evey couple of days for an elderly resident who lived full time in the park.

She drove in through the exit, not realising thing had changed.

Removed most of the front end, sump, and destroyed 4 Tyres $lots Never heard the final outcome as I moved further up the coast. Sorry used to have a few pics but lost them

Years ago when I used to live at Mt isa there was a couple I knew travelling down through Cloncurry to Winton and they came across a car near Kynuna which looked like it had ran off the road and they could see someone in it. They pulled up to see if he was ok. The engine was still running but the bloke looked like he was asleep. When they got up close they could see that he was dead. It was a dirt road in those days and he had ran over a steel bow from a cap tarp on a semi that must have fallen off. When his front drivers side wheel ran over it it had flicked up and came through the floor between his feet and went straight through his chest and the seat. Poor bugger didn't stand a chance. Just goes to show how unlucky one can be.
