    Autotecnica Seats - Any good?

    Hi All,
I need a new seat for my disco as my current one has fallen apart. I need more of a bucket style seat as I sit to high in the standard seats and look at the roof above the wind screen.
I was in autobarn today and was surprised by the price of their autotecnica seats, I know they will not be the quality of a recaro etc but for $400 insted of $1500 and it comes with a universal rail that will fit the landy (wow) and ADR approved seems to make sence to me.

Has anyone had experince with these seats? Are they good bad? Any feedback appriciated

    Thanks Andrew

i had a set in my 180b sss race car they held me well and were fairly comfy
but i think the side support would be a pain getting in and out of a 4wd

I bought one some time ago. Still sitting in the shed waiting for me to fit it. I didnt get a universal rail for mine though, just the seat but i only paid $120

My seat is buggered so im going to modify the base of my current seat and mount the new one to the slide. The only thing i will need to do is weld some 50mm tube in a square to bolt to the base of the seat and then have that set up to mount the slide from my seat to the 50mm tube, without the 50mm tube the seat would sit in the car to low. Then i need to removed the seat belt bracket from the seat base and weld it to the new set up.

But the seat is comfortable and for the money i reckon they are worth it. Matt

Yeah I could get my current seat repaired by a motor trimmer but then I would still sit to high. The disco seats are very comfortable but I need a bucket style seat so I can see out the front window properly. As I sit at the moment when the middle of the seat is collapsed is a good height, uncomfortable but a good height

disco seats sit on a raised mount.....maybe you could have a custom base made up to lower whatever seat you fit......
then you can use any seat from any car you like.......whichever you find most comfortable......

you wont have to sacrifice comfort for height this way.......

I presume a different seat mount would then have to engineered to be legal and that would cost quite a bit. For the cost of a custom seat mount + eng certificate I could probably buy a recaro or the like. I have thought about this option though.
That is the other thing there are very few places where you can sit in these seats before you buy, being almost 2m tall and 110kg I think most of these seats that have bolstered sides could be to skinny?
