Not good at all and to be honest a bit sad.
There could be certain circumstances that have prevented him from making contact.

No internet, totally forgotten and now feels rotten so he just leaves it.

Give him benefit of the doubt and a quick phone call with the facts and a friendly reminder I do believe is all that is needed and puts your mind at ease.

Just make that call and see where it leads.

    You will sleep easy.

    Hey Pete,

You are one the most helpful on aulro. Don't let this dampen your enthusiasm or willingness to help.

There may be extenuating circumstances, but it's not hard to answer a message.

Like life, there are some dead set oxygen thieves and opportunists on here, and i've been unfortunate enough to be stooged, stiffed and stuffed around by a few, even when you're trying to help them.

HOWEVER......, they are about 0.0001% of the populous on here. It's full of great, helpful, some humorous, resourceful good natured people.

I'd keep smiling, ask for your part back, and ask the "borrower" to WISE UP

Sorry to hear that Pete. Hope you get the part or the cash ASAP!

Does the person in question still post on here.

I think Offender90 had a similar experience lending items to someone on here.

Thanks for the replies guys. I agree that the majority of users are great, but it only takes one to cause drama! I will most likely keep offering help to people if I can be of any use!

Interesting to here that Bojan has had similar Ben.

the borrower doesnt apear to have logged in since mid December.

You've either been stooged, the recipients plain forgotten or some major event has happened to push this issue into the background for him.
Call me naive, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt till I knew better.

That really sucks! I've received great help from people on this forum, most recently only last week.

I'd be giving him a call to check if he's "just plain forgotten", but also PM Inc about which user it is.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now and follow up with a call at the end of the week if I haven't got a reply back.

Let you all know what happens.

I know what you mean, Pete.

I've been trying to contact a member for months after I gave him a hand a year ago. He has moved, his phone nos. are no longer connected, and he doesn't respond to emails or PMs.

    Like you, I feel betrayed.

Sadly, we have experienced the same disappointment with a member about 12 months ago. He had a starting issue with a TD5 Defender and we gave him a loan of a crank angle sensor, on a 'trial and return basis'. We went out of our way to drop off the item as his vehicle wasn't working. He seemed like a really nice guy .....

Several weeks later we sent a PM, asking how he went with his problem, as sensor as this is part of our spares kit for holidays. Got a reply saying sorry - been overseas, problem was a faulty new fuel pump, will send the sensor back.

The item never arrived and after several follow-up PM's ..... we received no further replies...... so I gave up. (A reply saying "I lost it" would have been OK)

But I still help out where I can and will continue to do so as this site is full of fantastic, helpful people.

Pete, I hope you have better luck than I have.

    Erich
