Hi I have a VMS 430 gps and was up in Toolangi forest today and as I turned off the easy tracks and went for something a bit more challenging, the VMS had no idea where I was. I did, as I just purchased the latest maps for the area, but that defeats the purpose of the gps. I know there are upgrade cards available from VMS, but was wondering if there is an alternative to shelling out another $250 for a new SD card? Have been very pleased with the VMS, easy to use around town, took it to Birdsville all good, but looking forward to spending more time around the likes of Toolangi, as it's so close to Melbourne, day trips are easy. Can anyone suggest an alternative to buying the SD card?
Here are some photos of today, a friend of mine came along in his new Porsche Cayenne diesel, it faired well, traction was ok as he's fitted some Pirelli Scorpions, but ground clearance was its problem. Almost got hooked up in some muddy ruts, he called out for a tow on the uhf, but gave it another go and got through.
Don't understand the confusion, my VMS came with the standard SD card and want more detailed maps. Was asking for suggestions for an alternative to paying the $250 VMS are asking. How do you set up the oziexplorer, is it on a card? Also what scale are their maps, are they 1:25000? I believe this is the minimum for an area like Toolangi.
