After putting up the previous post I went over to pack everything up as it is scattered across my lounge room.

Well I thought I will just plug it in one more time - as the GPS was booting up a flash of something odd came onto the screen then disappeared. Hmmm what was that. I jingled a few things and nothing - oh well must have been imagining things - then it appeared again - this time for longer - a picture of my loungeroom with two yellow lines on it - yep it was the rear camera. Then lost it - jiggled the AV lead on the GPS and it was back - so seems there is an issue with the connectors inside the GPS - with more playing the longer it stayed on - so it does basically work but I have a connector issue. I will pull the GPS apart later and clean up the contacts and tighten them up a bit.

I was quite impressed with the camera - it was dark in the room and the IR leds in the camera were on - can easily see across the room in the dark and can see the reflection of the IR leds on the white ceiling of the room - resolution was quite good - with lights on and blinds open the quality of the colour images was also very good.

I find it amazing that I have had this thing for a couple of months and could not get it to work - spent about $15 on different connectors at the computer fair this morning - none of them worked. Maybe plugging them in and out improved connectivity.

GPS is back in the 101 and set up the camera at the rear. With the transmitter underneath there is not enough signal strength to get through the body work to provide a decent signal at the GPS. The interference is so great that there is no picture just snow.

However lift up the transmitter above the rear tray so that it is basically 'line of sight' with the receiver and it works quite well giving a good picture day or night.

So while the camera needs to be placed outside, some consideration needs to be given to where the transmitter is placed - thankfully there is a reasonable amount of cable between the camera and transmitter to give a few options.

My brother recently bought a $300 wireless reversing camera system for his Triton and he found the same - there was too much sheetmetal in the bodywork for a decent signal to be received so he had to make his system a wired system rather than wireless.

I'm just about to install the same camera but not sure about where the wiring for the reverse light comes through? Is it internal or along the chassis? Any photos .
I'm think g that I'll put it in place of the rear washer so I can see everything and easier to reverse the trailer.
If anyone has mounted it in this spot can u post me some photos of how u mounted it?
