    My new GPS

Just replaced my old GPS with a newer one, a Tom Tom 2535. My old one was a Go710 and the mount finally gave out and I could not find a replacement. I got the new one as refurbished by Tom Tom so it had probably been returned or something and repackaged by the manufacturer. I really like the bigger screen and the map interface is more like a smart phone app in that you can touch the screen and move the map around. It also comes with a new magnetic mount that suctions to the window and you attach the cord and the GPS just clips into place and is held by the magnet.

The cord has a proprietary plug at the GPS but uses a USB plug and UPS/cigarette lighter insert. I prefer not to have cables hanging down and decided to figure out a way to have the cable plug in above the mirror, I also use my cigarette lighter for other gadgets. So I found a dual USB socket that is designed for boats and mounted it in the small removable plastic trim above the mirror between the sun visors. Works great and I just coiled the excess cord and secured it with a twist tie behind the mirror. That way I can easily take it for when I use it in another vehicle. here are 2 pics. You can see in one shot that I have a Bell radar detector as they are still legal here in the USA. I wired that from behind the headliner down to behind the glovebox.
