not a big deal, move i once every 3 hours or so
I have just installed Hema maps on my Ipad and the system works fine. However I want clarification as to whether the maps move if I go off thew map on screen, or are these maps static and you have to move them manually? Jim

I'm currently touring outback NSW and the maps are doing a great job of keeping up with the vehicle. No need to touch the device. This is the first trip using the ipad mini and the Hema maps app and its been great so far. We're still on the blacktop but will hopefully see what it's like for off road navigation soon.
My only critism so far is that it doesn't record tracks in the background so when you switch apps you loose that segments data. This hasn't been an issue yet but might be annoying soon when I'd like to have complete GPX files of our travels. If anyone has a solution to this I'd love to her it

To the original poster - do you remember if you clicked "allow" when asked if the Hema App could use your current location? If you click "no" the app cannot use location services so can't access the GPS position. If the position indicator is grey the app doesn't have a gps lock - it turns red when the app has a valid gps signal.
If you are running IOS6 you need to go into the iPad Settings app, then Privacy > Location Services then check the setting for the Hema app is "On".
Add: The other thing to be aware of is that once you move the map manually the app will stop tracking the current position. To re-enable you need to tap the "cross hair" icon in the tool bar. This should recentre the map on your current location and the app will keep your the current position at the centre of the screen until you manual move it.
I also have Hema, however I find TomTom much more useful, especially when in a new town and need to find a certain place
I have being using it on the iPhone and iPad. iPhone in a windscreen mount for on the move duties tracking, iPad for researching next days route or for wife and kids to see where we are, very happy.

SubscriberMy wife has the non-wirless iPad, so does this mean I can still download the app and but access manually?
I mean does it allow me to choose any map, just like if I was using paper maps?
Thanks
