Hema Explorer for Android - Free Maps Bonus atfer $50 purchase

    Hi All,

I heard about this deal before I actually came to this part of the forum, and thought some people might be interested.

If you purchase Hema Explorer for Android for $49.99, for a limited time they are giving away the following maps:

"Hema’s classic 4WD destination maps...Hema’s Fraser Island, High Country Victoria, the Kimberley, Cape York and the entire Great Desert Tracks series (including Simpson Desert)"

More details on Hema's site here.

The reviews of the app seem few and not too good. Anyone got any experience with this? Is it worth it, running on an Android Tablet?

    Thanks!

Dont know about the Hema App but the Ozi Explorer App is good. Its very stable and works well on an 8" tablet. Its 25USD and you don't get any maps BUT you can get the Geoscience 1:250 for all of Aus for free. Would work well if you run Ozi on the PC etc and all ready have maps.

Would be even better if you know someone with a HN6 as the CD that comes with it you can pull the maps off. Its very easy to do and you get every digital map HEMA produce

Hema is a great program but so is ozi, ive been using ozi since it first came out and now using its app for samsung 10.1 tablet, with the built inn gps and ram mount its the ducks nuts, the mud map app is pretty good, I use that sometimes also but always come back to ozi for the ease of calibrating your own maps

    cheers

I've got Hema Explorer as well as Ozi.

They are really aimed at two different markets. Hema even acknowledges that by having their Ozi like app on ios.

I think Hema Explorer will be good for longer trips where you might want to upload your progress and trip report to their cloud site or for people who are not Ozi literate.

Ozi is much better for everything else.

Hema Explorer is also in its early days. I have reported a few bugs which have been mostly sorted but I got annoyed with it after a while so have uninstalled it for now. I'll reinstall it after a few more updates have been released.
Hema giving away all those free maps is their way of repaying you for all your error finding.
