MM2 stores the data on the device, I have 23GB of maps, including the whole of Vic in 1:25k, stored on both iPad and iPhone.
This is for those that run the current version of Mud Map 2 (not the old HD version) and I'm not after any information on any other make, model and competitor GPS unit.
I presently run Memory map and Mud Map HD. memory map offers 1:25k maps and you buy the license to down load. However the 1:25k maps are not stored on your device (iPad for me) rather you download the required map in advance or if lucky to have reception off-road at that time. This is rather inconvenient for 2 reasons: first not always do you remember to download in advance; secondly and more my complaint is that overnight my 1:25k maps seems to clear from the app and in a multiple day trip the subsequent days in the bush are without 1:25k maps. Memory on the iPad is not a problem.
The question, does Mud Map 2 store the 1:25k maps on the device? I'm not asking about the default maps, just the 1:25k maps. I read all the literature and I couldn't find information answering that question. I have sent mud maps a query. Between the 2 spurces I'm hoping to get an accurate answer

X2. Mudmap does store them on the device.
Cheers

X3 stores it!
THE MAP can be useful too - just remember to keep it updated.
