Robert Pepper's GPS book

Has anyone read GPS Vehicle Navigation in Australia? RMP is not allowed to answer.

Is it any good? Perhaps you'd better PM me with answers.

Excellent read Ron ... I haven't seen anything on the market that comes close. The book maintains a good mix between technical reference and solid recommendations on selecting the right setup for you.

I've always been a paper map believer but since reading Rob's book I thought I might give moving maps a go. I was amazed how well it works .. not only for navigation on the trails but for trip planning as well.

Get the book .. get a gps .. get moving maps .. you will not look back!

I've got the GPS - a Garmin eMap. It was a gift from Telstra when i was made redundant.

Buying Robert's book may make getting the moving map working a lot easier as it may save a lot of research.

I bought this book to learn about GPS's and also learnt lots about the map datums and grid references then I went out and bought a GPS with an understanding of what I wanted (before that I had no idea).

It's a good read and I read it twice now. Once before buying the GPS and once after to clarify things on the GPS that didn't make sense.

It's worth the money.

(BTW I didn't buy a Garmin which is referred to in the book. I bought a brand new Magellan from ebay - although it is the US model the guy loaded all the Australian base maps onto a SD card for $50)

I bought Robert's book early last year - about the same time I bought my Magellan GPS.... I thought it was really well written and easy understand.

All the screen shots etc are based around Garmin equipment - but I didn't find that made it much more difficult to relate to my own unit.

I would highly recommend it to someone trying to get their head around GPS use.

Thank you RMP..... you certainly helped me.... and many others I suspect.

Where did people buy Rob's book ?

A&R Bookworld doesn't stock it here, preferring one of those "idiots guides to" published in the US
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
