No, you're stuck with what you have in the D3.
Like all in-car satnav systems the mapping and offroad features are woeful. Buy yourself a topo map and a decent Garmin or Magellan.
I'm new to this forum so excuse me if this isn't the right place to ask this.
I recently purchased the new Discovery 3... wonderful car! The factory sat nav is fantastic for metropolitan areas, but comes a little short when you get out of town. (unless you stick to main highways). Does anyone know if good country maps exist that would be compatible with this system?
regards
Vuk

G'day VUK,
I have a Disco 3 with Sat Nav and am thinking of getting the upgraded DVD disk whicn is due out now, I dont know the price and have conflicting information on wether you have to buy frin Land Rover or the manufacturer. Have a look at www.whereis.com.au in the products in car sat nav for version 12. Then have a look at what is now covered versus our old edition, I think its almost twice as much as what we have now.
In my new disco3 I have version 10 produced in 2002, there is no version 11 they went straight to version 12.
Other than the Sat Nav my TDV6 is going fine

Hello there Mr. Disco-3,
Thanks for the great news!! those other bolkes didn't offer much besides
crap and woefulness. in their defense, I guess they are fairly hard core 4x4 guys. I simply need something that will show most country roads. I wasn't meaning fire breaks and gnarly goat tracks. I checked the whereis .com as you suggested and it looks like version 12 of the DVD maps will come very close to just what I need. Thanks for all your insight.
BTW. Version 12 of the maps costs $395 and is about to be released mid oct. Phone 1800 819 471 to place your order.
And how great is the TDV6 eh???
best wagon I've ever had!!!!!

you missed the point mate..
if you took to time to take the hint and had a look at the copilot 5 website you would see it uses the latest iteration of the whereis data just like your new update for the d3 sat nav is going to.
it is hardly hard core goat track stuff to get something to navigate a 2 and 4 lane highway for 60-80 klms without sending you 35klms out of your way in the opposite direction via a goat track
many people on quite a few gps forums are having similar problems with the whereis data based options... they all seem to say similar things, alright around town but woeful on any long trips as it sends you off on goose chases almost everytime no matter what settings you try....
i have seen many examples of it with my own eyes...
hope your milage ends up better than mine, i simply cant afford to use it anymore as i waste more time trying to get to a job than doing the job unless i use other software, an option you dont have....

I was talking to a guy who has a RR Sport and like the D3 has sat nav he went out and bought a Navman PiN as it is similar to the sat nav in his RR, we helped him setup his Navman he seems happy now.
I would give Navman a call they might be able to help with info on any updates to the sat nav in your car cause i think it's a Navman system.
As inc says copilot sucks, Navman SmartSt Version 3 is a much better system.
Baz.
Cheers Baz.

Hi Guys,
how did you go with the new map DVD, is it any good ? I have just taken deliver of a supercharged RR sport and found the maps lack detail. (Polite way of saying...they are useless)
I was previously using a garmin gps map 76cs and running that into a laptop with ozi explorer, that worked perfectly, but it obviously very cumbersome. Hence the desire to get a decent map source for the RR.
Would be very interested in your opinion of the new maps.
Regards
Fully.
