In the UK, the traffic service was excellent (Route planning taking into account near-realtime road conditions, and re-routing round jams), but it used the trafficmaster network, and I don't think there's an equivalent here?

I get my updates, gps fixupdate, weather reports etc., via the bluetooth/mobile phone .....

Seems to work well

Yes, and works fine, took me a while to get the phone set up right, and of course you have to have a bluetooth/gprs phone.

I have heard though not to sure on its truth that the traffic report feature through mobile link to check on traffic jams and accidents along your route will be available in Australia in a years time.

Dose anyone know the facts on this.
