Thread: Mobile GPS

I have a nokia 6110 navigator, runs the route 66 software as well, works well for on road stuff, although I did find on a recent trip to QLD that some sections of the map need updating (Q4 '06 aust maps) but I haven't gotten around to that yet. Also found a program which enters all fixed speed cams in aust into the maps and gives me a warning when approaching one.

Which maps have you got loaded?

The only one I could find was a 133MB file called 'Australia.prm'

Have you seen or got anyothers?

The maps I have were supplied with the phone, as far as I know you have to buy updates from nokia, which is why I haven't yet. I would presume they are supplied by route 66.

i have a 6110 the maps were allready on it route 66. It does need the maps upgrading though as it is a bit out of date. I've also used it for purely giving out gps coordinates and it seems to go well. Gps does use a lot of battery power though needs to be in car charger when in use or goes flat real fast.

I've just got an N95-2 has the 8 GB internal mem. It uses Nokia maps and they are free downloads, however, if you want the voice directions its a separate download that you have to pay for. Didn't know you could load the route 66 maps, can you load the oz explorer maps?

I have a nokia N73 which runs symbian. I got tomtom for symbian and it works well. I use a $60 bluetooth gps reviever from ebay. Of you have any mobile phone running symbian you can also run tomtom. Not great off road tho.
